Fire Safety Activity Center

A highlight of the museum for children is our Fire Safety Activity Center on the 2nd floor.  Children can practice a real fire drill in our child-sized two story fire safety house!  They learn and practice stop, drop & roll, crawling low under smoke, how to dial 911, and go to their meeting place.  Surprise the kids as they play in the house with the fire alarm and see if they know what to do!  Visitors push buttons, turn knobs and lift flaps to discover all the different fire safety tips everyone needs to know.  Visitors can try to find what is unsafe in the garage and go through different safety scenarios to figure out which situations are safe.

Discover what three elements are needed for fires to occur - oxygen, fuel & heat!  Find out how many different kinds of smoke detectors there are available and how they work.  Watch a fire safety video in our Fire Safety Theatre!  Try on the turnout gear that firefighters need to wear when they fight fires.

We encourage you call today and book a free guided tour for your group. Tours are available Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. After hours are by appointment.  Call 409-880-3927
